St. Peter School Registration and Open House Announced!

It was a gray kind of afternoon this week when two alumni of our small school rang the doorbell. Pushing the button and then hearing their voices, a smile crept over my face. Each year, it is about this time when they show up to walk down the “it seems so much smaller” hallway and say hello to the teachers they now appreciate and have that teacher smile in return and say, “we miss you.” They can’t really pinpoint what they miss as they stare at the artwork hanging where theirs used to be. But isn’t that usually the case? Hindsight, the “grass is greener,” and all that tells us to appreciate what we have when we have it and yet it still leaves us speechless when we realize how special something was and how lucky we were to feel part of something when we didn’t even know it. That has been the blessing of this school for almost 60 years. Voices have come and gone but the spirit of this school, if you’re lucky enough to recognize it, and even more blessed to be here every year to watch it work in the hearts of students and families, is as real as the young people – taller…smarter…- right in front of me this gray afternoon. It is this spirit that we endeavor to share with everyone who comes in the door as we teach, lead and celebrate our students. In this spirit we announce our Open House and Registration for the 2019-2020 school year! If someone you know would like to know more about St. Peter School for their children, please invite them to our Open House on Monday, January 28th from 6:30 – 8pm. Or tell them to call and we will set up a visit. Applications for enrollment will be available beginning Monday, January 28th until February 15th. We will have openings in Grades K-6 next year and we accept applications from students of all faiths. Transportation from local school districts is provided as well as tuition assistance for families that qualify thanks to our generous parish and EITC donors. Parents are asked to bring a child’s birth certificate, immunization records and any baptismal certificates with them. Many of our students go on to excel in academics, leadership roles and athletics in high school and beyond after they leave our school and we love watching then soar. And when we are really lucky, they stop by on a gray day and remind us why we are here! HAPPY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK! May we always treasure each other and our St. Peter School!
